AFTER DINNER SPEAKING
Yes I do after-dinner speaking and talks at lit festivals etc. Please use the contact page to get in touch re fees etc but please note, due to time constraints, I only usually do talks for smaller meetings if very local. One does have to pay the mortgage :)
Milly's BRAND NEW BLOG....
http://daftoldbag.blogspot.com
Milly is Patron of HAWORTHCATRESCUE.ORG
HAWORTH CAT RESCUE recently made me patron of their charity, which is entirely self-funded (did you know that a lot of animal charities are prohibited from receiving grants and council funding?) Please visit their site for more information but I'm onboard trying to help them find 2 million cat lovers willing to donate one pound each so they can build the most fantastic educational and rehoming centre. You can donate online here and it only takes a few mins. It would help people who have to give up their cats through severe illness or becoming homeless - something I hadn't thought of, to my shame. And they have a no-kill policy which is why I'm supporting them. If you're a cat lover - please pay the site a wee visit!
..and Patron also of THE WELL
...which is the most fabulous complementary therapy centre for cancer patients situated in THE CORE, County Way, Barnsley.
Milly's Writer Friends
These are sites which belong to my lovely writer friends who write the books I read!
Jane Costello - Jane's books are very funny and selling like hot cakes!
Louise Douglas - haunting, gorgeous stories that left a massive hole that I couldn't fill when I'd read them. Missing You was worthy winner of the People's Choice Award at the recent Romantic Novelist Association Prize ceremony.
Jane Elmor - Beautiful, beautiful books about flowering youth - Pictures of You was a gorgeous read
Sophie Hannah -psychological thriller writer that keeps you guessing until the very last page. I read them in awe, the endings are unguessable - and she's a bloody fabulous poet as well!
Kate Hardy - Kate is the Queen of Romance and fellow Italianamaniac. Her passionate Italian men are the stuff of legend :)
Mo Hayder - thriller writer of books that keep me awake at night. Just brilliant!
Tara Hyland - author of the fabulous Daughters of Fortune, published this year and storming off the shelves with its dynastic tale of family and fashion
Kate Lawson - my friend and mentor. I was introduced to her as an example of how to write well! Kate also writes as Gemma Fox and Sue Welfare
Kate Long - the very funny author of, amongst other things, The Bad Mother's Handbook (televised with Robert Patterson and Catherine Tate) and her latest A Mother's Guide to Cheating
Craig Robertson - Craig writes serial killers too well, I've been a bit wary of him since I read Random. Don't get on the wrong side of this guy - but read his books and enjoy
Alec Sillifant - children and teen fiction author and fellow greetings card copywriter, the kids books are sweet and funny and future classics, the teen books are great for getting slightly older reading teeth into
Suga Lumps gift books are delightful - and written by top quality writers - and illustrated by very talented artists, who I have worked with for years. A cut above the rest if you're looking for words that hit the emotional spot
Lucie Whitehouse - writer of the most fabulous atmospheric haunting books with a descriptive vocabulary and slick plot twists to die for!
